How do I earn points?

There are three ways to earn points: visiting the gym, getting your steps in, and elevating your heart rate.

Gym: Visit your favorite gym, studio, or rec center, and Plyo automatically checks you in based on your location. Earn 1 point for every minute at the gym, up to 120 minutes per day. Earn double the points when you add a friend to your workout!

Steps: Run or walk with your iPhone or compatible wearable device to earn points for steps through Apple HealthKit. Earn 1 point per 400 steps, up to 20,000 steps per day.

Heart rate: Elevate your heart rate with a compatible wearable device to earn points for your activity through Apple HealthKit. Earn 1 point per minute of elevated heart rate, up to 60 minutes per day.

Note: Once you surpass 2,000 points, you will begin earning points at a lower rate. We do this to ensure a level playing field for all Plyo users.

Android devices are currently limited to earning points at university rec centers.

Plyo won’t check me into the gym!

We’ve seen a few edge cases where certain devices have troubles with automatic check-in. If you’re having issues checking into the gym, please try the following:

Step #1: Make sure location services are properly set up.

iOS: Device Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Plyo > “Always.”
Android: Device Settings > Apps > Plyo > Permissions > Location > “Allow all the time.”

Step #2: Verify your gym location has been added in Profile > My Locations.

Step #3: Open Google Maps to make sure your device is recognizing your location inside the gym.

Step #4: Double check you’re connected to wifi and have a strong cell signal.

Step #5: Sign out and sign back into the app.

Android Devices: Be sure “Battery Saver” mode is turned off.

Why does Plyo require location services?

The reason we require location services to be set to “Always Allow” is so you can be checked into (and out of) affiliated gym locations without having to open the app or leave it open. It’s our goal to make it easy for you to focus on being active while the points rack up in the background.

Data privacy is very important to us, which is why we do not store data related to your location beyond the time you enter or exit an affiliated gym location. This information is not shared outside of Plyo.

How do I redeem my points?

Online rewards: After tapping “Redeem,” you’ll be given a discount code or discount link which can be used online at the merchant’s website within 24 hours.

Local rewards: Just select a merchant and choose the reward you’d like to redeem, present your phone to the cashier at the point of purchase, and the cashier will tap “Redeem.” Please note that your reward will redeem immediately.

How do Raffles work?

You can enter raffles as many times as you’d like. 1 redemption = 1 entry. Winners are drawn every Friday (unless specified otherwise), and are notified via email and Plyo’s instagram story. If you don’t receive an email on the date of the raffle drawing, you were not selected as a winner.
